Overview

CIVA (“Commission Internationale de Voltige Aérienne”) is the body responsible for international sport aerobatics – from the latest news, competition results, record activities and regulatory info to criteria for aerobatics competitions and records, judging at aerobatic sporting events, and also the technical standards – for powered and glider aircraft.

CIVA is a Commission within The Fédération Aéronautique Internationale (FAI – The World Air Sports Federation) which was founded in 1905 to regulate the sport of flying, the various aviation meetings, and to advance the science and sport of Aeronautics.

The FAI is made up of twelve air sport commissions – including sports such as Aeromodelling (CIAM),  Astronautic Records (ICARE), Ballooning (CIA), Hang Gliding and Paragliding (CIVL) and Skydiving (ISC)  – and is also recognised by the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
